Mrs. Seesagoon Krishanachinda and Miss Ua-aree Sooksri.
School
Name: Sriwittayapaknam School.
"Sri" (pronounced "see") is the first
three letters of the owner's maiden name. It can also translate
as "good omen", "beauty" or "prosperity".
"Wittaya" translates as "knowledge".
"Paknam" is the name of the old part of our
city.
School
Nickname: There is another school
in Samut Prakan which was founded by Mrs. Sawaiwong's elder sister.
The first one is called Sriwittaya and our one is called Sriwittayapaknam.
To help differentiate between them, everyone refers to the schools
by their nicknames. The older school is called Srinok, which
means that on entering the city you will find this school first.
Our school nickname is Srinai, which means that our school can
be found further into the city.
Location: Sriwittayapaknam School is about 30 kilometres south
of Bangkok at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River. We
are in the city of Samut Prakan, which is in the province
of the same name. The area where we are is popularly
known as Paknam, which means "river mouth".
Samut Prakan is an industral city with many factories
in the area. Due to the close proximity to the Chao
Phraya River and the Gulf of Thailand fishing is an
important industry. Popular tourist attractions include
The Ancient City and the Crocodile Farm. Visit our Virtual
Tour of a Thai City which has several hundred photographs
taken by our students.
