Welcome to the Press Room for Sriwittayapaknam School in Thailand. Although we
are a normal Thai school we have an international reputation due
to our large presence on th e
internet. The school has been featured in prestigious magazines
such as Time Magazine and AsiaWeek and online news sites produced
by the BBC and Newsweek. During the making of the Hollywood movie
'The Beach' in Thailand the world press and moviemakers looked
to us for daily updates. We also have a worldwide reputation for
providing tourist information. Lonely Planet, who produce the
number one guidebook for Thailand, contacted our students to ask
for their help in updating their next edition. The school and
our associated web sites have been featured in countless newspaper
and magazine articles around the world. We receive literally thousands
of virtual visitors every day and our counter has long since whizzed
past the three million mark. All of this is why we are compelled
to have a Press Room for our small humble school.

In December, the Bangkok Post did a
full two-page colour article about our internet project and all
our web sites. "The reason they are popular among web surfers
is easy to explain. They are very good, easily the best Internet
web sites produced by any school in Thailand. They are also largely
in English, making them accessible to an international audience."

Sriwittayapaknam
is a privately run school about 35 kms south of Bangkok in Central
Thailand. It is run by three sisters who had a vision to build
the best computer center in the country. We have just over 1800
students with ages ranging from 3 to 15. [MORE]
The Computer
Center occupies the entire 6th floor of Building Two. We
have 150 computers spread across three computer rooms. In addition,
all of the kindergarten classrooms have their own computer. Students
learn here at least once a week but sometimes as many as three
times. [MORE]
The students and
teachers work on literally dozens of web sites which have received
a lot of international acclaim. No-one doubts that the school
has the largest internet project in Thailand. We have web sites
ranging from tourist information on Thailand to a fan site for
Leonardo DiCaprio. [MORE]
We were one of
the first schools in Thailand to publish on the internet back
in 1997. In those days it was difficult to get any support and
we were basically on our own. Only a handful of the parents of
our students had internet back then so the original web site
was aimed at foreign visitors. [MORE]
