If you are not making your own krathong, you can always buy one down by the river for about 20 baht (50 cents). Many of these are made with banana plant leaves. The base is made from the stem of the banana plant. Krathongs usually have two incense sticks, a yellow candle and some flowers.

This is the jetty by the river. Hundreds of people came here to float their krathong on the river. They first lit the incense sticks and candle, made a wish and then floated it out onto the river. Soon there were hundreds of lights bobbing up and down on the river.

As usual, there was all the fun of a fair with dance performances, rides for children and plenty to eat and drink.

The evening included a spectacular fireworks display and hundreds of lanterns being launched into the sky.
