English Homepage > Student Elections

At the start of every school year, student elections are held to choose the Head Boy or Head Girl. The prefects are chosen by the academic staff and then they form three "political parties". They only have 2 weeks to campaign among the students. They give speeches during assembly and put up posters around the school. Then, on election day, all of the students in the school go down to the playground to vote.
Everything is done much the same as in national elections. The voting is done in secret. The students have to put an 'X' alongside the group they are voting for. They are taught about what makes their vote invalid.
Their votes are then placed in a box which is then counted later during the lunch break. In the above photograph, you can see that group 2 are winning by a big margin. Click here, to see the winners for this year.
