Students start going home as early as 2.30 p.m. The hours are staggered as there are so many students. The first to go are the kindergarten students, followed by junior primary at 3.45 and then senior primary at 4.30 p.m. and the remainder students go at 5 p.m. All of the students have i.d. cards. If they go home by themselves then they must show their i.d. card as they go out. If they go home with someone else then that person must show the i.d. card to the teach on duty. If the students are not in the waiting area then the duty teacher uses the mike to call the students to the front gate. Names are being called continuously for more than two hours.

It is 5 p.m.and most of the students are now on their way home. Some go with parents and others on school mini buses.

Some go by motorcycle and others by samlor, a three-wheeled taxi.
Students who go home by themselves have to first line up in the playground and then leave the school in a big group. As they file out they show their i.d. cards to the duty teacher. They are then escorted by two other teachers who take them to a nearby intersection and help them cross the road.

Like everywhere else in Thailand, the national anthem is played on the radio at 6.00 p.m. and the flag is lowered. The last student has usually gone by 6.30 p.m. It is a long day for everyone.
