About 95% of the Thai people are Buddhists. Our religion is important to us. Unlike other religions, there is no God. Buddhism is more a way of life than anything else. On Friday afternoons, all of the students take part in chanting for about 20 minutes. The words are in Pali, the language of the ancient scriptures. It is not always easy for the younger students to pronounce or even understand the words so they repeat them after one of the senior students.

After the chanting has finished, the students then spend 5-10 minutes for meditation. Students are taught how to meditate from an early age. In fact, many of the kindergarten teachers like their students to meditate every day before their nap. They believe that this will help to calm them down and that they will sleep better.
