After the procession around the temple, the students moved to another building where a long row of monks were sitting on a raised platform. The students sat down in a respectful position, with their legs tucked under, facing the monks.

A long ball of string, called sai sin in Thai, is unwound and passed around the students and the gifts brought for the monks.

The sai sin is then given to the abbot. For about 15 minutes the students take part in Buddhist chanting.

The food and other essential items are then offered to the monks. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the abbot walked around the students, blessing them with sacred water.
