Loy Krathong is celebrated during the full moon in November. A krathong is a cup-shaped bowl which people float on the water. Thai people do this as a tribute to the Goddess of Water. They believe that their sins will float away with the krathong. In the krathong they put incense sticks, a candle, some flowers and a few coins. Hundreds of krathongs bobbing up and down on the water with flickering lights makes a very beautiful evening.

Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year and is celebrated for 3-5 days starting on 13th April. Thai people usually go to the temple to make merit by giving food and robes to the monks and pouring a small amount of rose scented water over the hands of their elders. Later in the day, most people go a bit wild and throw buckets of water at everything that moves.
