At the Temple | Around Town | Family | Festivals

The family unit is very important to Thai people. At school, the students are taught about the part they have to play in family life. They are given instruction in how to show the proper respect to their elders and even how to clean the house. Once a week, they have a lesson called Ngan Baan or Housework in English.

Of course, the children are given plenty of time to play once they have finished their chores. Many of the games they play are similar to what Western children play, but there are some games which are unique to Thailand. One of these is takgraw, a game which is like volleyball though you use your feet instead of hands.
