Phra Chulachomkloa Fort is a modern fort and has a very important role in protecting the kingdom. In 1893, it was a battle field and it has been a memorable fort for Thai people and Thai history for a long time.

In those days, King Rama V realized that England and France were hunting for their colonies and Thailand was in danger. Our neighbouring countries were colonized by them so King Rama V tried every possible way to protect our country, especially the watery way. He intiated in improving the forts in Paknam by employing foreign marine experts to improve naval affairs.
