   In B.E. 2539 (1996 A.D.), In gratitude to the far-sightedness of King Rama 2 who launched the construction of the Chedi, a much revered and much admired edifice and the first major sight seen by foreigners when they entered the country by sea, making them know that ours is Buddhist country with long history of culture, tradition and art. The life-size, bronze statue is located in the Kong Pavilion placed inside a European- style open hall behind the Samut Chedi.

This European-style building was built in the reign of King Rama 6. The hall complex also comprises a Chinese pavilion, a candle tower and a bell tower. Inside the hall can be found beautiful mural paintings depicting the scenes of the construction of the Chedi and the portrayal of tradition and custom of the Thai people during that period.
